Radon is a radioactive gas that is released by uranium, a substance found in soil and rock. Breathing in too much radon can damage lung cells and lead to lung cancer. The good news is most radon in this area turns up in such little amounts it is not a real concern. The map below shows were Radon is prevalent in the U.S. The darker color indicates high radon presence and the lighter color indicates less of a radon presence.
Radon testing consists of continuously sampling the interior air of the home over a determined period. This can be done with several single use home test kits or call in a professional that has multiple radon measurement devices.
